Strut & Slate covers the gear of spring and fall turkey hunting: box, slate and diaphragm calls, locator calls, hen and jake decoys, turkey vests and seats, ground blinds, camouflage, and the small things like shooting sticks and rangefinders that make a long sit easier. The questions it answers come straight from the woods. Which call is a beginner most likely to run well on day one? How many decoys is too many? Does a vest seat actually stay comfortable for three hours against a hardwood?

The site follows the standards on this hub. Calls in particular are gear where hands-on use is the only honest test, so where a call has been run in the field by me the page says so. Where a pick is researched, built from construction, guide reports and how a product has held up for other hunters over several seasons, that is stated on the page instead. Commissions are disclosed on every page and never influence which call or decoy gets recommended.
