Bolt & Vault

A gun safe and home safe site that reads the label first: who certified the safe, to what standard, and what the spec sheet actually shows, with every pick labeled by the threat it stops and scored on a published rubric.

About the site

About Bolt & Vault

Bolt & Vault covers secure storage in five sections: gun safes, handgun and quick-access safes, home and fire safes, safe ratings explained, and setup and safe storage, which takes in dehumidifiers, lighting kits, bolting a safe down and storing guns safely around kids. Its angle is the rating. Safes are sold on numbers most buyers cannot check, such as steel gauges, fireproof minutes, RSC stickers and gun counts, and some of those numbers come from an independent lab while others come from the maker's own furnace or from nowhere at all. So every product on the site carries a protection tier that says what it honestly stops, access box, fire chest, UL RSC or UL TL-rated, and a lower tier is never ranked above a higher one on the same list without saying why in plain words. The explainer pages cover what a UL RSC listing proves and what it does not, how to read a fire rating, how steel gauge works and how electronic and mechanical locks compare.

Picks follow the standards on this hub, and Bolt & Vault ranks on what an independent listing can actually prove. Every score is built from evidence a reader can check through the links on the product card, in a stated order: an independent certification listing first, UL 1037 for burglary and UL 72 or an Intertek/ETL verification for fire; then government sources such as California's gun-safe standard and the CPSC recall database; then standards bodies and neutral research; then the maker's own spec pages, with a maker-only fire or water claim labeled as not independently verified. Every number on a product card traces back to one of those sources. Scores come from a published, weighted rubric for the job the product is sold to do, and every listed model is checked against the CPSC recall database before it goes up. Prices appear from a live, dated feed, and the site stays clear of bypass methods. As an Amazon Associate, Bolt & Vault earns from qualifying purchases; commissions never set a score, and where a top pick is sold through dealers rather than Amazon the site links to the maker plainly and says it earns nothing there.

Bolt & Vault belongs to the Hunting & Shooting group of the network, next to Bench & Berm for range gear and Lens & Lead for eyewear, and it connects to Gate & Guard in the Home group, since both are about keeping a household safe. It is live at boltandvault.com. Its footer names Iron Mako Media as publisher and links back to this hub, and its About page carries the Mike M. byline, so a reader can verify who is behind it in one click.

Bolt & Vault is owned and operated by Iron Mako Media. It follows the same editorial standards as every site in the network and carries the network-wide affiliate disclosure: like every Iron Mako Media site, Bolt & Vault earns commissions on purchases made through its links, and this hub carries none.
