Shade & Signal
A smart glasses and camera eyewear site: what they record, how long they last and whether they are worth wearing as ordinary glasses.

What the site will cover
About Shade & Signal
Shade & Signal covers eyewear with electronics in it: camera glasses, audio sunglasses with open-ear speakers, smart glasses with displays or assistants, prescription options, charging cases and the privacy and legal questions that come with a camera on your face. The buying questions are the ones people are embarrassed to ask. Is the video actually usable? Can other people hear my music? How long does the battery last on a hike? Do they look and feel like normal glasses, and can I get my prescription in them?
Recommendations follow the standards on this hub. Glasses are worn every day, and comfort, weight, fit over the ears and battery life in real use are not visible in a listing, so where a pair has been worn by me the page says how long and in what settings. Where a pick is researched, built from published specifications, software updates and owner reports, that is stated. The site is candid about privacy and recording etiquette. Commissions on links are disclosed on every page.
Shade & Signal belongs to the Home, Family & Everyday group with Gate & Guard, Pedal & Pint, Meal & Macro and Chill & Chest, and it connects to Open Ear Club for open-ear audio and Lens & Lead for protective eyewear. It is launching soon; this profile describes planned coverage. When live it will link back to this hub.
Shade & Signal is owned and operated by Iron Mako Media. It follows the same editorial standards as every site in the network and carries the network-wide affiliate disclosure: like every Iron Mako Media site, Shade & Signal earns commissions on purchases made through its links, and this hub carries none.
